The Marriage Prep Program

A Private, 12-Session Relationship Health Program for Marriage

Marriage deserves more than hope.
It deserves structure, clarity, and preparation.

The Lovers Counseling Marriage Prep Program is a structured, prevention-first premarital counseling experience designed to build relationship health before marriage begins. This is not a workshop. Not a checklist. Not crisis repair. It is a high-touch, clinically guided process designed to help couples understand how they function together—so they can enter marriage with clarity, alignment, and the tools to sustain connection over time.

Why a Structured Program?

Most premarital counseling is open-ended.

The Marriage Prep Program is intentionally designed as a contained, cohesive arc. Each 90-minute session builds upon the previous one, allowing for depth, reflection, and integration over time. Rather than reacting to conflict, we design for resilience. We also focus on identifying the subtle patterns that can distort communication, expectations, and connection over time—before they become embedded in the relationship. The goal is not perfection. The goal is durability.

The 12-Session Structure

While tailored to each couple, the program typically unfolds in four phases:

Phase I —
Foundation & Assessment

We map attachment patterns, communication tendencies, stress responses, and family-of-origin influences. You develop shared language for how you function as a team.

Phase II — Communication & Conflict Architecture

We develop emotional resilience and a clear framework for navigating conflict. You learn practical repair tools, emotional regulation strategies, and de-escalation skills. Conflict becomes navigable rather than destabilizing.

Phase III —
Roles, Money, and Intimacy

We address financial expectations, shared responsibilities, extended family dynamics, and intimacy patterns with care. You gain clarity and understanding, and align on a shared value system

Phase IV —
Long-Term Vision & Integration

The final sessions reinforce alignment around future goals and transitions. You leave with clarity—not assumption. Structure—not guesswork.

Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or bi-weekly to allow thoughtful pacing.
