From Engagement to Preventative Relationship Health™

Therapy That Strengthens Your Foundation

Love lasts longer when it’s built on skill, not luck.

Your engagement isn’t just about planning a wedding — it’s about building a life. At Lovers Counseling, we elevate premarital work into a private, curated experience designed for couples who want more than vows — they want a vision, a roadmap, and a marriage anchored in intimacy and trust.

The Lovers Counseling Method™

Our proprietary prevention-first relationship counseling framework promotes Preventive Relationship Health™. We believe the engagement chapter is one of the best times to set the intention for your marriage and craft your relationship goals. We believe it’s easier to redirect than it is to repair, conflict can be a growth point, and learning relational skills is the key to a happy marriage.

What to Expect in Premarital Counseling?

All of our sessions follow The Lovers Method™, a prevention-first counseling framework. The first session is a design session—where you are now, where you want to go, and what will get you there. From there, we’ll tailor a roadmap to your timeline and goals. You’ll leave with:

  • A shared vision + values alignment

  • A conflict map and a repair plan that actually works

  • Tools for emotional regulation and de‑escalation

  • Clarity on money, roles, family dynamics, sex + intimacy, and long‑term goals

  • Practices to keep intimacy alive across seasons of life

Each 55-minute session is private, confidential, and personalized. Sessions may be extended into 90-minute deep-dives for couples who want more time and space to explore transformative conversations. Ongoing support is available after the wedding through Couples Counseling on a weekly, bi-weekly, or at a rhythm that fits your life.

What We Cover (and Customize)

We help couples work through:

  • Communication that creates safety (and ends the “same fight”)

  • Conflict styles, repair strategies, and de‑escalation

  • Trust, boundaries, and handling external stress (work, family, distance)

  • Sex, intimacy, and desire differences

  • Money—budgets, roles, risk tolerance, and transparency

  • Family dynamics, traditions, and in‑law boundaries

  • Roles, household load, and decision‑making

  • Relationship goals, purpose, meaning, and rituals

  • Parenting hopes, timelines, and values

  • Life transitions—career moves, relocation, caregiving, grief

You don’t have to be in crisis to be in counseling.
You don’t have to be in counseling to begin.
You only have to want your marriage to thrive.

Specialized Focus: Sex & Intimacy Therapy

Our sex therapy blends compassionate support with evidence-based practices. Together, we’ll explore your intimacy struggles without shame, pressure, or blame. • Yes—secure telehealth across Colorado, plus in‑person sessions in Boulder. Also, we offer our on-demand Premaital Relationship Skills Course for self-guided intention-setting relationship skills.

  • Most couples complete 14–16 sessions; others choose a 12‑session foundation package or continue monthly for the first year of marriage.

  • We love working with couples that are also seeing individual therapists and/or individuals that are also in couples therapy. We call this Your Success Team. However, we cannot be both your couples therapist and your individual therapist at the same time. In the consultation, we’ll recommend the right structure and trusted referrals if needed.
